Pete Murphy is a Glasgow-based stand-up comedian, host, Harley rider and retired professional wrestler. After around 15 years in the ring and two Wrestling Hall of Fame inductions, he found another way to spend his evenings in front of strangers.
He started comedy through Ultra Comedy, raising funds for the Beatson. More than 100 appearances in his first year followed, alongside sold-out Glasgow International Comedy Festival shows and appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe.
His comedy takes a dry, sharp-eyed look at getting older, modern life and the everyday decisions that turn out to be terrible ideas. There’s storytelling, sarcasm and a healthy suspicion of anything described as “an exciting opportunity”.
The Pirate King is the name. Don’t expect an hour about boats.
